McKenna Legacy Foundation Awards Nearly $1 Million in Grants
The McKenna Legacy Foundation in New Braunfels, Texas, has awarded $962,000 in grants to thirty local nonprofits, KGNB reports. Launched in 2007 after the sale of the nonprofit McKenna Memorial Hospital to for-profit Christus Santa Rosa, the foundation provides support for local organizations working to improve health and well-being in the area. This year the foundation saw its grantmaking fall by some $620,000, although it has awarded more than $8 million over the past four years. Recipients in the most recent round of grantmaking include the New Braunfels Area Community Foundation ($135,000), the Transitional Living Project ($95,000), Communities in Schools ($75,000), CentroMed ($75,000), Volunteers in Medicine ($75,000), and the local Salvation Army ($75,000). In addition, the Comal County Senior Citizens' Foundation, the CRRC in Sattler, and the New Braunfels Kids' Club were each awarded $30,000.
