Mission:
The mission of the Nonprofit Roundtable is to build the strength, influence, and visibility of the nonprofit sector in Greater Washington by advocating on behalf of the sector, developing sector leadership, and conducting sector-wide research.

Background:
The Roundtable’s members include the executive directors of some of the leading nonprofit organizations in the region including direct service providers (such as Capital Area Food Bank, Center for Multicultural Human Services, Northern Virginia Family Service), advocacy organizations (Piedmont Environmental Council, Tenants and Workers Support Committee, Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless), and grantmakers (Community Foundation for the National Capital Region, Fannie Mae Foundation, Meyer Foundation). The goals of the Roundtable are to ensure consideration of social issues in regional policy development; to establish a common identity of the sector to enhance our influence in all communities; to increase understanding of the important role of the sector; and to promote, cultivate, and support the excellence of sector leadership.

Current Programs:
The Roundtable promotes the role of the nonprofit sector in emergency preparedness; strengthens the region’s nonprofit advocacy infrastructure; conducts research and advocacy on the impact of the fiscal climate on nonprofit organizations; and provides research on the scale and scope of the sector in the region. The Roundtable has also been leading the effort to develop a regional 2-1-1 hotline for access to human services. Recent events for members have included presentations and dialogues with former Senator Bill Bradley, Alice Rivlin, Billy Shore, and Lisbeth Schorr, as well as leaders of the Board of Trade, Council of Governments, Department of Homeland Security, and the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy.

Funding Needs:
The Nonprofit Roundtable seeks general operating funds to support all of its mission and programs.
