Mission:
The mission of the Nonprofit Roundtable is to build the strength, influence, and visibility of the nonprofit sector in Greater Washington in order to create a more just and caring community in Greater Washington.
Background:
The Nonprofit Roundtable is a regional nonprofit membership organization that includes direct service providers (such as Capital Area Food Bank, Northern Virginia Family Service), advocacy organizations (Piedmont Environmental Council, DC Appleseed), grantmakers (Community Foundation for the National Capital Region, Meyer Foundation), and corporate partners (Deloitte, Bank of America) all working together to solve regional problems.
Nearly 200 member organizations throughout DC, Maryland, and Virginia help the Roundtable promote a strong community of nonprofit leaders that understand and strengthen our communities in a uniquely powerful way. Both seasoned and emerging leaders look to us for opportunities to sharpen their leadership skills through high-level, high-quality programs. As a catalyst of innovative research, collaboration between nonprofits and government, and coalition building, the Nonprofit Roundtable enables nonprofits around the region to improve the quality of life for all of us.
Current Programs:
The Roundtable works to promote the value of nonprofit organizations, develop and support strong nonprofit leaders, support and collaborate with local coalitions, and facilitate strong relationships between nonprofits and government.
The Roundtable's most recent report, Beyond Charity: Recognizing Return On Investment - How The Nonprofit Community Impacts Greater Washington, will enable government, business, and media to better understand and quantify the contributions of the nonprofit sector. Through nearly 100 examples, Beyond Charity reveals some of the many ways in which local nonprofits raise the quality of life for all of us.
The Roundtable Fellowship Program, a rigorous nine-month leadership development program, includes high-level skill-building seminars, advanced communications training, executive coaching sessions, and mentoring for emerging regional leaders to help them exercise the vision to lead beyond the walls of their organization.
Funding Needs:
The Nonprofit Roundtable seeks general operating funds to support its mission and programs.
