Verizon Wireless Seeks Proposals for Domestic Violence Prevention and Education Projects from Nonprofits in Maryland, Virginia, and DC

HopeLineVerizon Wireless is offering $30,000 in domestic violence grants to nonprofits in the DC Metropolitan area through its national HopeLine phone-recycling program. Grants are being offered to enable agencies, shelters, and other domestic violence advocacy groups to introduce or expand programs, add equipment, or enhance facilities to better serve clients.

A total of six grants of $5,000 each will be awarded. Proposals must be postmarked or e-mailed by September 9, 2005. The grants will be announced in the fall of 2005, and are timed to coincide with Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October.

Verizon Wireless will give strong preference to grant proposals that:

  • Emphasize the benefits of the new or expanded program or services
  • Include an implementation plan with a defined beginning and ending timetable
  • Define measurable results
