Charter Schools Receive Substantial Contribution from Sallie Mae Fund

The Sallie Mae Fund, which provides loans to college students, has contributed $28 million to a charter school facilities fund called Building Hope. The fund helps charter schools secure long-term facilities and expand their enrollment.

Building Hope selected the Cesar Chavez Public Charter Schools for Public Policy in Northeast DC to receive $15 million of the Sallie Mae contribution. The school has a strong reputation for its rigorous academic curriculum, unique public policy program, top-notch faculty, and comprehensive student support services. To date, 100 percent of Chavez graduates have been accepted by at least one college or university.
