Cafritz Foundation's Anne Allen Selected as Washingtonian of the Year
Anne Allen, executive director of the Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation was recently selected as a Washingtonian of the Year by Washingtonian Magazine. For 33 years, Washingtonian has honored people who have had a positive impact on the metropolitan region. Allen started her career in philanthropy in 1963 when she was asked by the late Philip M. Stern to run his foundation. She also worked at the Public Welfare Foundation before coming to Cafritz. For 15 years, in her role as executive director of the DC area's largest private foundation, Allen has been an advocate of nonprofits with programs in the arts, education, healthcare, and social service.
