The Upside of a Down Economy: Real Estate Acquisition for Arts Organizations
—CANCELLED
San Francisco
Thursday, October 15, 3:00-5:00 pm
The current economic conditions present not just challenges but also opportunities as vendors become willing to negotiate on price and prime real estate is available at tempting rates. Particularly in an expensive real estate market like the Bay Area, where traditionally arts spaces have been hard to find, the current availability of real estate might be making arts organizations take a second look at becoming building owners. This program will feature lessons learned from the Berkeley Rep, which has been taking advantage of the real estate market to expand. We will also feature advice from the Nonprofit Finance Fund (NFF), a national leader in financing and advising nonprofit organizations. NFF will discuss best practices in planning your facility project and the impact that facility acquisition and/or renovation can have on an organization's mission, programs, structure, operations, fundraising, and financial health.
