GASP—Wrap It Up: Evaluation and Outcomes

San Francisco

Monday, December 8, 12:00-2:00 pm

Co-sponsored with Development Executives Roundtable (DER)

Do you ever feel like all you do is research, plan, and write grants but that you might be forgetting something? Sometimes it is so busy that it is easy to forget about the promised evaluation and outcomes that need to be reported on. Receiving the money from a foundation is not usually the end of the relationship between granter and grantee. Evaluation at the onset of a grant and having the ability to meet outcomes is vital to successful completion of a grant and ensuring your relationship with your funder and your reputation as a nonprofit remains solid. Listen to three experts about the importance of evaluation, understanding that finishing the grant is not when it's submitted but when you write the final report.

Guest Experts:

  • Ken Blum, principal, Kramer, Blum and Associates
  • Hector Melendez, program officer, Pacific Foundation Services
  • Paul Connolly, senior vice president, TCC Group
Grantwriters Anxiety Support Program (GASP) helps new and intermediate grant writers (0-3 year's experience) build confidence and skill in their work. GASP provides an opportunity for those working in the nonprofit development field or for those interested in learning more about careers in development: (1) to share proposals currently in development with peers and "mentors" who will offer feedback and (2) to discuss topics of interest regarding the grant seeking process. GASP also offers participants a chance to develop new professional relationships, help in advancing their careers and strengthening the support network for Bay Area development professionals. Guests with expertise in each session's topic will help address issues identified by the group. GASP! hosts Cheryl Clark, Jennifer Yeagley, Juanita Young, and Diana Weston will facilitate discussion and encourage all participants to contribute. Light refreshments will be served.
