FAB—Working with–or as–a Development Consultant
San Francisco
Tuesday, November 30, 3:00-5:00 pm
Co-sponsored with Development Executives Roundtable (DER)
As a cost-cutting measure in these troubled times, many organizations end up having to hire part-time consultants instead of hiring full time staff. Organizations may hire a seasonal fundraiser for an annual appeal, an event planner to stage a gala, a grant writer to work on a federal grant, a part-time major gifts officer or a consultant for a capital campaign. Whether you work as a consultant or are a full time staff working, or about to work with a consultant, this session is for you. Join other development professionals in exchanging best practices and lessons learned from the field of hiring, retaining and working with consultants.
Fundraisers Anxiety Busters (FAB) is a free, peer support network for intermediate and seasoned fundraisers, and nonprofit staff and volunteers with development responsibilities (3 or more years experience requested), to share fundraising strategies and tactics, meet challenges, and solve problems. Two peer leaders with expertise in each session's topic will help address issues identified by the group. FAB host Michael Magnaye facilitates discussion and encourages all participants to contribute. Light refreshments will be served.

Melissa has raised several million dollars as a staff member, consultant or volunteer for San Francisco Bay Area nonprofits. She served as development director for the Lavender Youth Recreation and Information Center for five years.
