Hear insiders' accounts of the publishing process. Learn everything from why your query letter may not be working to what, exactly, narrative non-fiction really is. Bring your questions.

Panelists:

  • Roxanna Aliaga is a senior editor at Counterpoint Press. For five years she was the associate publisher of Limelight Editions and for three years the managing editor of Shoemaker & Hoard. She is the former editor-in-chief of Washington Square and a founding editor of The Bellevue Literary Review.

  • Dena Fischer is a literary agent with Manus & Associates. She represents literary fiction, practical nonfiction and memoir. She has been helping authors streamline and perfect their work for more than a decade.

  • Karen Murphy is a senior editor at Jossey-Bass, an imprint of Wiley, specializing in business, leadership, and management titles. Previously she has held editorial positions at Viking Penguin, William Morrow, Kaplan Publishing, and Oxford University Press. She has worked with a wide array of authors, such as Jim Kouzes, Barry Posner, Joe Grano, Jeff Fox, Jeff Carlisi, Rex Briggs, Alison Rogers, Brendan O'Carroll, Jon Hassler, Elizabeth Brundage, and Michelle Kennedy. She is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania.

  • Pat Walsh is editor-in-chief at MacAdam/Cage, a publisher of fiction and narrative non-fiction, known industry wide for its ability to find and debut new voices to great acclaim. He is the author of 78 Reasons Why Your Book May Never Be Published and 14 Reasons Why it Just Might.
