Welcome to the Foundation Center-San Francisco, one of five library/learning centers operated by the Foundation Center, a national nonprofit organization headquartered in New York. The Center's mission to strengthen the nonprofit sector by advancing knowledge about U.S. philanthropy is accomplished in part through the free information and grantseeker training offered to the public at our San Francisco library/learning center. We've been serving the nonprofit community of California since 1977.

Our Staff

	Janet Camarena Director (415) 397-0902 x100 jfc@foundationcenter.org view bio» Janet Camarena has served as director of the Foundation Center-San Francisco office since 2001 and has worked for the Center in a variety of roles since 1995. As director her responsibilities include leading a team of five professionals in offering extensive outreach for the Center's resources and services in the Bay Area and beyond, planning and overseeing educational programming offered in the western region, carrying out donor development and cultivation, and recently the creation of online programming such as the new Philanthropy Chat podcast series and webcasts of live programs. As a first-generation American, whose family hails from Mexico, Ms. Camarena recognizes the importance of access for all to information and educational services and has played an important role in the Center's creation and delivery of culturally and linguistically competent resources on grantseeking. Ms. Camarena completed her undergraduate work at Mills College and received her Masters in Library and Information Science from San Jose State University. She serves on the board of the Alameda County Library Foundation and is active in the Association of Fundraising Professional's-Golden Gate Chapter. She lives in the East Bay with her husband and young son. close [x]
	Jean Johnson Senior Librarian (415) 397-0902 x107 jej@foundationcenter.org view bio» Jean Johnson is the senior librarian at the Foundation Center-San Francisco. Jean was reference librarian/technology specialist when she returned to the Center in January 2002. She held this position previously from June 1997 to June 2000. In the interim, she worked at a regional association of grantmakers, an independent foundation, and a public library in the Bay Area. Before Ms. Johnson moved to the Bay Area, she was Bibliographic Services Manager for the Foundation Center's headquarters office in New York. Ms. Johnson received her Masters in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois. close [x]
	Scott Ullman Regional Training Coordinator (415) 397-0902 x101 shu@foundationcenter.org view bio» Scott Ullman is the regional training coordinator for the Foundation Center, providing outreach and training throughout the Bay Area, statewide, and in the Western United States. Prior to becoming regional training coordinator, Scott was a local training coordinator for the Foundation Center since January 2001. Prior to coming to the Foundation Center, Mr. Ullman was involved in the nonprofit sector since 1974 as a fundraiser, technical assistance provider, nonprofit executive and foundation director. Shifting careers in 1990, Scott received his Masters in Library Science and worked as a public reference librarian in the San Francisco Bay Area. close [x]
	C. Davis Fischer Training Coordinator (415) 397-0902 x102 cdf@foundationcenter.org view bio» C. Davis Fischer is the Training Coordinator for the Foundation Center- San Francisco. As the most recent addition to the SF team, she comes with over 10 years of nonprofit sector experience in program development, nonprofit management, education, international development and fundraising. Most recently she was a consultant providing her clients guidance on strategy, process, fundraising and organizational development for non-profits and individual donors. Prior to becoming a consultant, Davis developed a program in India that facilitates the rehabilitation of women recovering from sex-trafficking. Davis has also worked in the education field, designing, developing and coordinating service-oriented leadership training for youth in Cairo, Egypt, Puerto Rico and California. Davis received her undergraduate degree from Mount Holyoke College in economics and philosophy and received a graduate degree in education from Harvard University. close [x]
	Sarah Jo Neubauer Assistant Librarian (415) 397-0902 x105 sjn@foundationcenter.org view bio» Sarah Jo Neubauer has been the assistant librarian for the Foundation Center-San Francisco since July 2006. Prior to coming to the Foundation Center, Ms. Neubauer worked as a senior library assistant at the University of California, Santa Cruz Women's Studies Library and as a reference librarian assistant at the University Library at UCSC. Her previous work experience includes community organizing and fundraising for a variety of nonprofit organizations. Ms. Neubauer received her B.A. in Women's Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and her MLIS from San Jose State University. close [x]
