Mission:
To help emotionally and behaviorally troubled children and their families live successful and fulfilling lives.
About the Organization:
Formed in 1986 after the merger of two Memphis residential treatment centers, Youth Villages annually serves about 14,000 youth with emotional or behavioral disorders, a history of physical or sexual abuse, or problems with substance abuse or suicidal ideations. Its nearly five dozen locations across the country help youth from birth to age 22, with the majority of them between the ages of 12 and 17.
Current Programs:
Youth Villages offers residential treatment services as well as foster care, in-home therapy, adoption support, a transitional living program, and several Tennessee-based group homes. The organization also provides crisis services for young people experiencing psychiatric emergencies, an emergency shelter for runaway and homeless teens, and a program to help children with developmental disabilities gain the skills they need to live in family settings rather than institutions.
