Women's Impact Fund Opens Ninth Annual Grantmaking Cycle for Nonprofit Organizations in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina
The Women's Impact Fund in Charlotte, North Carolina, is a member-based organization that works to maximize women's leadership in philanthropy by engaging and educating its membership, increasing charitable contributions, and strengthening communities through collective giving. Since its inception in 2003, the Women's Impact Fund has donated $2,616,000 to thirty-four organizations in Mecklenburg County. The fund has opened its ninth annual grantmaking cycle. Given the increased demands and reduced resources that many organizations face today, WIF recognizes that this is a critical time for nonprofits and encourages all eligible organizations to submit a Letter of Inquiry. The fund intends to award five grants ranging from $40,000 to $100,000 to nonprofit organizations in Mecklenburg County. One grant will be awarded in each of the fund's five focus areas — Arts & Culture, Education, Environment, Health, and Human Services. Grants will be made to fund both new and existing projects and programs that 1) apply new, creative approaches to critical community needs; and/or 2) address emerging community issues. The funding criteria allow the grants committee to recommend agencies in need of operational assistance to sustain current programs as well as launch new programs. For complete program guidelines and the LOI form, visit the Women's Impact Fund Web site.
