Bush Foundation Accepting Applications for Community Leadership Fellowship Program
Bush Foundation Accepting Applications for Community Leadership Fellowship Program
The Bush Foundation, which works to promote vibrant communities in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and the twenty-three Native nations that share the same geography, is accepting applications for the Bush Fellowship Program.
The fellowship program is designed to provide an opportunity for individuals in the foundation's service area to increase their understanding of, capacity for, and practice of leadership and improve the quality of life in their community. The work of the fellowship is to blend opportunities for personal development with efforts to effectively engage with others to create positive change within their communities.
Applicants will propose their own fellowship plan (including the community they want to work in), the community issue they wish to address, and their method for mobilizing the community toward a solution. During the fellowship, fellows will have the opportunity to try different strategies intended to mobilize stakeholders to engage in creating change around the identified issue. Fellows also are expected to pursue opportunities for personal development that will help increase their leadership effectiveness during and after the fellowship. Fellows are required to attend eight leadership development seminars offered by the Bush Foundation as part of the fellowship.
The program is open to United States citizens or permanent residents who are at least 24 years of age and who have lived for at least one continuous year in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, or the twenty-three sovereign nations that share the same geography.
Fellowships provide support ranging from $30,000 to $80,000 over two years based on the plan the applicant proposes. Fellows may choose to maintain their full-time employment during the fellowship, reduce their hours, or take a leave of absence. Fellowship funds may not be used for academic degree-granting programs.
For the 2013-14 fellowship program, applicants will be able to choose one of three deadline dates: January 14, 2013; March 18, 2013; and May 20, 2013.
