LUNGevity Foundation Releases Requests for Applications for Translational Lung Cancer Research Awards
LUNGevity Foundation Releases Requests for Applications for Translational Lung Cancer Research Awards
The LUNGevity Foundation has issued Requests for Applications for three awards in translational lung cancer research. Applications are invited for Career Development Awards, Early Detection Awards, and Targeted Therapeutics Awards.
The Career Development Awards for Translational Research program was created to support future leaders who will keep the field of lung cancer research vibrant with new ideas. Applicants must be within the first five years of their faculty appointment. Projects that will be funded are expected to have a direct impact on the early detection of lung cancer or on the outcomes of lung cancer, or to provide a clear conceptual or experimental foundation for the future development of methods for early detection and/or individualized treatment. Successful applicants will receive $100,000 per year for a possible period of three years, and will participate as non-voting members of LUNGevity's Scientific Advisory Board for the duration of the award.
The Early Detection Awards program is intended to support research projects directed at new approaches designed to improve clinical methods for the detection of primary tumors. Projects are expected to have a direct impact on the early detection of lung cancer or a clear conceptual or experimental foundation for the future development of methods for early detection. The preference is for studies that are likely to result in patient benefit in the foreseeable future. Applicants may apply as individuals or in teams of up to three investigators. It is strongly encouraged that teams be composed of principal investigators from different institutions. Early Detection Awards may be for a maximum of $600,000 (an annual maximum of $100,000 a year for two years for up to three principal investigators).
The Targeted Therapeutics Awards program will support research directed at the discovery and validation of biomarkers or novel targeted therapeutics that will make a difference in the clinical treatment and survival of patients. Applicants may apply as individuals or in teams of up to three investigators. It is strongly encouraged that teams be composed of principal investigators from different institutions. Targeted Therapeutic Awards may be for a maximum of $600,000 (an annual maximum of $100,000 a year for two years for up to three principal investigators).
For all awards, an applicant/awardee must be employed by a United States institution at the time of submission of the LOI and throughout the duration of the award.
The complete RFAs and application procedures are available at the LUNGevity Web site.
