Chesapeake Bay Trust Invites Applications for Community Engagement and Restoration Grant Programs
Chesapeake Bay Trust Invites Applications for Community Engagement and Restoration Grant Programs
The Chesapeake Bay Trust is accepting applications for the following grant programs:
The Outreach and Community Engagement Grant Program provides funding for projects designed to increase public understanding of watershed challenges, build ownership of local watersheds, engage more individuals and organizations in stewardship practices and projects, and expand the base of citizen support necessary to advance the restoration of the bay. Support will be awarded in two tracks: 1) Behavior Change Program Track grants of $5,001 to $35,000 will be awarded for projects that aim to improve how citizens approach stewardship of the bay watershed and its resources; and 2) Awareness Projects Track grants of $5,001 to $15,000 will be awarded for projects that aim to measurably increase citizen awareness and knowledge of issues and challenges in restoration of the bay watershed and its resources.
The Restoration Grant Program offers funding for projects that provide accessible funds to organizations and agencies for demonstration scale, community-based, on-the-ground restoration projects. The grant program seeks to increase public awareness and public involvement in a wide array of activities that help restore and protect the bay and its rivers. Priority will be given to projects identified in a watershed plan. Applicants for projects identified in or based on a watershed plan may request up to $50,000. Applicants for projects not identified in or based on a watershed plan may request up to $25,000.
The trust welcomes requests from nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations; faith-based organizations; community associations; service, youth, and civic groups; municipal, county, regional, state, and federal public agencies; soil/water conservation districts and resource conservation and development councils; forestry boards and tributary teams; and public and independent higher educational institutions.
