Hawaii Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure Invites Grant Applications
The Hawaii Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure has announced its 2013-14 Request for Applications.
Grants will be awarded for programs relevant to the following funding priority areas:
1) Increasing education on the importance of breast self-awareness and screenings for the low-income, uninsured/underinsured, and underserved women and men throughout the Hawaiian Islands, with a focus on Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders, and Filipinos living in rural and remote areas.
2) Removing cultural, linguistic, transportation, and economic barriers for screening tests and treatment for the low-income, uninsured/underinsured, and underserved women and men throughout the Hawaiian Islands, with a focus on Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders, and Filipinos living in rural and remote areas.
3) Improving post-diagnostic support for breast cancer survivors focusing on the low-income, uninsured/underinsured, and underserved women and men throughout the Hawaiian Islands, with a focus on Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders, and Filipinos living in rural and remote areas.
To be eligible, applicants must be affiliated with a nonprofit organization located in or providing services to residents of Hawaii County; Honolulu County; Kauai County (Kauai and Niihau); or Maui County (Kahoolawe, Lanai, Maui, and Molokai).
The affiliate will award grants of up to $25,000. Funds may be used for program expenses such as salaries and fringe benefits for program staff, consultant fees, clinical services or patient care costs, meeting costs, supplies, travel, other direct program expenses, equipment (not to exceed $5,000), and indirect costs (not to exceed 15 percent of direct costs).
