Native Arts and Cultures Foundation Announces Bridge Initiative: Art + Health Matching Grant Program

The Native Arts and Cultures Foundation has announced the Bridge Initiative: Art + Health, a matching grant award program open to California organizations.

The initiative invites tribal entities, nonprofit organizations, and Native programs in California to propose art projects designed to impact health and vitality in local communities, with a focus on youth. Health is defined as physical, mental, and/or social well-being. Artists and/or arts organizations ideally will work with healthcare or wellness partners to implement their projects. Key to successful projects is the integration of arts and cultures in creating community well-being and the engagement of youth and the community in the artist's work. Eligible projects would be those in which the artist's work or activities serve as an interface for community participation. Examples of outcomes could be strengthening individual and community health, drawing attention to an important issue, or engaging community members to think about health in new ways.

Preference will be given to community projects involving youth, public art projects, and media projects integrating health and art, and that take place between March 1 and October 30, 2013.

The program will provide grants of up to $10,000 requiring a 1:1 match.
