Nissan Foundation Invites Letters of Intent for Funding to Promote Diversity
The Nissan Foundation, which has as its mission "to build community by valuing diversity," has announced the call for Letters of Intent for its 2013 grant year.
The foundation is committed to celebrating cultural diversity as a means to promote respect for others, generate alternative ways of thinking, strengthen self-awareness, and enrich communities. The foundation supports educational programs that celebrate and foster appreciation and understanding for the United States' diverse cultural heritage. Grants will support projects that promote learning about diverse cultural origins, beliefs, and traditions as an integral aspect of education.
The foundation makes grants in communities where Nissan operates in the U.S. Nonprofit organizations located in Southern California, North Central Texas, Middle Tennessee, South Central Mississippi, Eastern Michigan, and the New York and Atlanta Metro areas are encouraged to apply with programs that support the foundation's mission.
To be eligible, applicants must have 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, demonstrate experience with populations served, have been in existence for more than three years, and serve communities surrounding Nissan's affiliate locations.
The foundation awards one-year grants generally ranging from $10,000 to $50,000.
