National Gardening Association Accepting Applications for Youth Garden Grant Awards
Sponsored by the Home Depot Garden Club, the National Gardening Association's Youth Garden Grants are awarded to schools and community organizations with child-centered garden programs.
Schools, youth groups, community centers, camps, clubs, treatment facilities, and inter -generational groups in the United States are eligible. Applicants must plan to garden with at least fifteen children between the ages of 3 and 18. Previous Youth Garden Grant winners who wish to reapply may do so but must wait a year between winning and reapplying.
Priority will be given to programs that emphasize integration of content standards, nutrition connections, environmental awareness, entrepreneurship, and social aspects of gardening such as leadership development, team building, community support, or service -learning.
Five winners will receive gift cards valued at $1,000, while ninety-five winners will receive $500 gift cards to purchase gardening materials and supplies from their local Home Depot store specific to the needs of their program.
