Women's Impact Fund Invites Letters of Inquiry From Nonprofit Organizations in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina

Women's Impact Fund Invites Letters of Inquiry From Nonprofit Organizations in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina

The Women's Impact Fund in Charlotte, North Carolina, is a member-based organization that works to maximize women's leadership in philanthropy by engaging and educating its membership, increasing charitable contributions, and strengthening communities through collective giving. Since its inception in 2003, the fund has donated nearly $3 million to thirty-nine organizations in Mecklenburg County. The fund is now accepting letters of inquiry for its tenth annual grantmaking cycle.

The fund awards high-impact grants ranging from $40,000 to $100,000 to community organizations in Mecklenburg County for projects designed to create significant positive change in the community. One grant will be awarded in each of the fund's five focus areas — arts and culture, education, environment, health, and human services.

The fund awards grants to both new and existing projects and programs that provide a creative, substantive approach to a critical community need and/or that address an emerging community issue. These funding criteria allow the grants committee to recommend agencies in need of operational assistance to sustain current programs as well as launch new programs.

Applicants must be a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization or be classified as a unit of government, and must be located and provide services in Mecklenburg County. (Agencies applying for an environmental grant may be domiciled outside of Mecklenburg County, but must provide services within the county.)

Funding will not be provided for capital and endowment campaigns, travel and conferences, projects that promote religious or political views, fraternal organizations, or re-granting programs.

Letters of inquiry will be accepted on a rolling basis until October 22, 2012. Early submission is encouraged.

For complete program guidelines and Letter of Inquiry form, visit the Women's Impact Fund Web site.
