Allina Health Announces New Grant Program to Promote Health in Elementary Schools
Allina Health, a not-for-profit system of hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare services providing care in Minnesota and western Wisconsin, has announced School Health Connection, a new program designed to encourage healthy lifestyles.
The program will provide ten elementary schools in Minnesota and western Wisconsin with tools and services designed to encourage healthy lifestyles in their students, teachers, and families.
The selected schools will receive $10,000 in grant funding, which includes $9,000 to support healthy lifestyle programs or equipment needs in the school, and $1,000 to fund a student-generated idea or program. Schoolsalso will receive access to online learning tools, physician consultations, teacher training sessions on health-related issues, and a health fair for the entire school community, including free health screenings for teachers and parents. Allina Health staff will work with the schools to provide health screenings and assessments for staff and families.
Elementary schools in the areas served by Allina Health are eligible to apply.
