Youth, I.N.C. Invites Youth-Serving Nonprofit Organizations in New York City to Apply for Service Grants
Youth, I.N.C. Invites Youth-Serving Nonprofit Organizations in New York City to Apply for Service Grants
Youth, I.N.C. invests in promising nonprofit organizations working to scale successful efforts to meet the needs of New York City's most vulnerable children.
The organization offers service grants (grants of consulting and training services) to youth-serving nonprofits through its Celebration (fundraising) and Board Advancement Programs. These grants provide eligible nonprofit organizations with tailored consulting in fundraising, marketing, and board development, as well as exposure to industry experts and best practices via a "learn by doing" platform.
Over the past eighteen years, Youth I.N.C. has helped more than a hundred nonprofits raise $40 million and has placed one hundred thirty-five corporate professionals on nonprofit boards, serving as a catalyst for their long-term growth and transformation.
The Celebration Program provides tailored consulting to help organizations build unrestricted funding, expand their network of supporters, and diversify their donor base. Each service grant includes individual bi-weekly coaching sessions with a consultant, structured fundraising model, monthly training workshops, executive director roundtables, and other networking opportunities and events. The program culminates with a major collaborative fundraising event, A Celebration to Benefit New York Kids, which is paid for and produced by Youth, I.N.C., giving each selected organization a highly visible, easily replicable, low-risk special eventat which they can raise funds, thank their donors, and showcase their work. Past participants have raised between $25,000 and $150,000.
The purpose of the Board Advancement Program is to help boards reach the next level of leadership and improve board effectiveness. Each nonprofit works with Youth, I.N.C. to conduct a board assessment and board retreat. Based on the results of the assessment and retreat, a customized implementation plan is developed for board members. Youth, I.N.C. and the consultant also provide technical assistance throughout the fifteen-month program ensuring board committees are functioning properly and the action steps in the implementation plan are carried out successfully. Once ready, nonprofit participants also are eligible for corporate board placements. To be eligible for either program, an organization must be a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that has provided fully operational New York City youth programming for at least three years, has a budget of between $250,000 and $4 million, has at least two staff members, and has five or more board members.
