Women's Sports Foundation Accepting Grant Applications for New York City GoGirlGo! Program

The Women's Sports Foundation created its GoGirlGo! program to give girls, particularly those in underserved communities, access to physical activity. GoGirlGo! is designed to give girls the confidence they need to become the next generation of healthy and successful leaders.

GoGirlGo! grants provide funding for sports/physical activity programs that combine athletic instruction for girls with the delivery of the GoGirlGo! curriculum by qualified adults. Grants support sports/physical activity programs seeking to add or expand program participation opportunities for an underserved population of girls, particularly economically disadvantaged girls and/or girls from populations with high incidence of health-risk behaviors.

With the support of Disney's Magic of Healthy Living, the GoGirlGo! New York grant program will recognize deserving organizations in New York City that seek to enhance the lives of girls 5 to 13 years of age through sports and physical activity.

To be eligible, programs must serve girls in New York City (Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island); demonstrate their ability to deliver sports/physical activity programming to girls 5 to 13 years of age through experienced and committed leadership; deliver a minimum twelve-week sports/physical activity program, with preference given to organizations working consistently with girls throughout the year; and order the GoGirlGo! Curriculum for at least ten girls and commit to implementing the curriculum. Applicants must be nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations or have a fiscal agent with 501(c)(3) status.

Grants will range between $1,000 and $5,000.
