Alexia Foundation Announces Initiative to Fund Photojournalism Project on Abuse of Women in the United States
The Alexia Foundation supports photographers as agents for social change through grants, scholarships, and special projects. The foundation's main purpose is to encourage and help photojournalists create stories that drive change.
The foundation has created the Women's Initiative grant program to provide resources to a photojournalist working to produce a project that illuminates any form of abuse of women in the United States but with global significance.
The foundation prefers proposals for stories that have not been published. Proposals for projects already in progress are welcome, as are proposals for stories that further expand and develop concepts that have been published already.
Proposals are invited from photojournalists anywhere in the world. The award is for an individual photographer; collaborative applications will not be accepted.
The Women's Initiative program will provide one production grant of $25,000. The winner will have six months to complete the project.
Visit the Alexia Foundation Web site for complete program information, entry requirements, and to submit an application.
