McKnight Foundation Invites Nominations for Minnesota Distinguished Artist Award
McKnight Foundation Invites Nominations for Minnesota Distinguished Artist Award
The McKnight Foundation is accepting nominations for its Distinguished Artist Award, which recognizes a Minnesota artist for artistic excellence as well as significant impact on the state's cultural life over several decades.
One artist is honored with this $50,000 award each year for having made a substantial impact on the arts in Minnesota over a lifetime. Award criteria include, first and foremost, the quality of a nominated artist's work. Other considerations include an artist's commitment to his or her field and ways the artist has enriched life for audiences and the community.
Artists in all disciplines are eligible for nomination but may not apply for the award themselves. Nominees must have worked in Minnesota much of their lives, though they need not be current residents; artists who achieved most of their success elsewhere will not be considered. No posthumous awards will be made.
For complete award information and nomination procedures, visit the McKnight Foundation Web site.
