San Francisco Foundation Invites Applications for Multicultural Fellowship Program in Community Development, Education, and the Environment
The San Francisco Foundation is recruiting candidates for the 2012-14 Multicultural Fellowship Program. The foundation is seeking applicants with expertise in three program areas — community development, education, and the environment.
Designed to cultivate diverse leadership in the philanthropic and nonprofit sectors, the fellowship is a two-year, full-time program for young professionals of color with the talent and drive to create positive social change in Bay Area communities.
The fellowship provides hands-on work experience with the foundation's program staff. Fellows receive professional development, training, and opportunities to build skills in grantmaking, convening, and project management. Fellows also benefit from networking, mentoring, seminars, professional conferences, and interactions with a range of nonprofit and philanthropic leaders.
A master's degree in a relevant area or equivalent research and analysis experience is preferred. A minimum of five years related work experience is required in addition to the specific requirements for each of the program areas. Applicants should have a demonstrated interest in fundraising, donor development, nonprofit or public service, work, and/or volunteer experience in one of the foundation's specific program areas, as well as eagerness to learn about the philanthropic sector.
Fellow compensation will be between $47,000 and $52,000 per year plus benefits. A standard work week of forty hours that includes periodic evening work and local travel is required.
The foundation will be holding two informational sessions on the fellowship program at its offices on March 1 and March 6, 2012. No RSVP is required.
Complete fellowship guidelines, program area-specific requirements, application procedures, and information session details are available at the SFF Web site.
