Potlatch Fund Seeks Nominations for Awards Honoring Northwest Native American Leaders
The Potlatch Fund, a nonprofit organization that works to inspire and build on the Native American tradition of giving and expand philanthropy within tribal nations and native communities in the Northwest, is accepting nominations for its Leadership Honoring Awards.
Named after five outstanding leaders, the awards are designed to recognize leaders in Northwest Indian Country. The awards are: the Antone Minthorn Economic and Community Development Award; the Pearl Capoeman-Baller Civic Participation Award; the Billy Frank Jr. Natural Resource Protection Award; the Patricia Whitefoot Education Award; and the Fran James Cultural Preservation Award.
To be eligible, nominees must be Native American individuals who reside in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, or Montana. Self- nominations are encouraged. Finalists will be formally recognized at the Tenth Annual Potlatch Fund Gala on November 3, 2012, and will receive a $500 cash award and a video highlighting their contribution to the larger community.
