New York State Health Foundation Accepting Proposals for Second Round of 2012 Special Projects Fund
New York State Health Foundation Accepting Proposals for Second Round of 2012 Special Projects Fund
The New York State Health Foundation, which has a broad mission to improve the health of New York State residents, is accepting proposals for the second round of its 2012 Special Projects Fund.
Special Projects Fund awards enable the foundation to be responsive to opportunities that fit its mission but are outside of its three priority areas: expanding health insurance coverage, improving the management and prevention of diabetes, and encouraging the integration of substance use and mental health services. Awards are one-time, non-renewable funding opportunities. Eligible projects will take place over a specified period of time and demonstrate quantifiable results.

Eligible applicants are existing nonprofit 501(c)(3) and for-profit organizations with a significant presence in New York State.
Funding requests can range from $50,000 to $1 million. Special Projects Fund grants are typically in the $250,000 range.
Applicants must first submit an online inquiry form to determine whether a proposed project fits the funding criteria. The deadline for the inquiry form is April 27, 2012. Full applications for the second round will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis with a final deadline of June 15, 2012. Earlier applicants have a higher probability of receiving funding than those who apply later in the calendar year.
