Monsanto Fund Invites Farmers in Minnesota and Illinois to Nominate Rural School Districts for Math and Science Grants
Monsanto Fund Invites Farmers in Minnesota and Illinois to Nominate Rural School Districts for Math and Science Grants
Sponsored by the Monsanto Fund, the America's Farmers Grow Rural Education program is a pilot project that will give farmers in Minnesota and Illinois the opportunity to nominate their public school districts for math and/or science education grants. The Grow Rural Education program is part of a broad commitment by the Monsanto Fund, the philanthropic arm of Monsanto Company, to support farming communities.
Farmers age 21 and over who are actively engaged in farming a minimum of two hundred and fifty acres of corn, soybeans, and/or cotton, or forty acres of open field vegetables, or at least ten acres of tomatoes, peppers, and/or cucumbers grown in protected culture, are eligible to submit nominations. School districts must be nominated by a farmer before an invitation to apply will be sent to a school administrator.
Grants of up to $25,000 will be awarded to selected public school districts based on merit, need, and community support (as demonstrated by farmers' nominations).
Visit the Grow Rural Education Web site for the complete list of eligible school districts and counties, guidelines, and nomination forms.
