Alliance Healthcare Foundation Announces Mission Support Grants Program for San Diego

The Alliance Healthcare Foundation, the greater San Diego region's community partner for improving access to health care for the region's poor, working poor, and vulnerable populations, has announced that it will eliminate its traditional application-driven grantmaking process and provide unrestricted core operating grants to agencies in San Diego and Imperial counties that share the foundation's mission and priorities. This new approach will streamline the funding process and increase AHF's sustainable grantmaking capacity by 50 percent, or $750,000 per year.

The AHF Mission Support Grants program aims to provide up to $1 million in total funding this year in the form of individual grants of up to $100,000 each. AHF will also continue its Responsive Grants program, with a total yearly budget of $250,000 and individual grants of up to $25,000 each.

The Mission Support Grants Program is an invitational program. Qualifying agencies must be operationally stable, have strong leadership, and have demonstrated their commitment to increasing the capacity of the healthcare delivery system for the poor, working poor, and homeless populations of San Diego. Prospective grantees will be asked to submit a short statement describing what they are doing to increase the efficacy of their own operations. Qualified agencies will meet with the AHF board of directors, who will make the final decision about which organizations to fund.
