Creative Capital Announces Upcoming Grant Round for Film/Video and Visual Arts

Creative Capital Announces Upcoming Grant Round for Film/Video and Visual Arts

Creative Capital is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to providing integrated financial and advisory support to artists pursuing adventurous projects in five disciplines: emerging fields, film/video, innovative literature, and performing and visual arts. Working in long-term partnership with artists, Creative Capital's pioneering approach to support combines funding, counsel, and career development services to enable a project's success and foster a successful and sustainable practice for its grantees.

Creative Capital seeks to support artists whose work is provocative, timely, and relevant; who are deeply engaged with their artforms and demonstrate a rigorous commitment to their craft, yet are also boldly original and push the boundaries of their genre; and who create work that carries the potential to reshape the cultural landscape.

Creative Capital's next grant round, for film/video and visual arts, will open on February 1, 2011. The program will open the grant round in February 2012 for emerging fields, innovative literature, and performing arts.

To be eligible to apply, an artist must be a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident; at least 25 years old; a working artist with at least five years of professional experience; and not a full-time student.

To apply for a Creative Capital grant, an artist must first submit an online inquiry form regarding his or her project. Applying artists should be prepared to describe how a grant would be a catalyst for artistic and professional growth at this time, the influences that inform their work, and how their work takes an inventive and original approach to form and content. The inquiry form also asks for a total budget figure and for artists to identify audience(s) for their project and any possible presenting venues.

Though the inquiry form will not be available until February 1, complete grant guidelines are available on the Creative Capital Web site. Creative Capital also will be hosting info sessions online and in select cities nationwide. Visit the Web site for information session dates and details.
