Conservation Leadership Program Extends Deadline for 2010 Conservation Awards
Conservation Leadership Program Extends Deadline for 2010 Conservation Awards
The Conservation Leadership Program, a partnership of five organizations — BirdLife International, the Wildlife Conservation Society, BP, Conservation International, and Fauna & Flora International, works to promote the development of future biodiversity conservation leaders by providing a range of awards, training, and mentoring support via an active international network of practitioners.
The Conservation Leadership Program is accepting applications for the 2010 Future Conservationist Awards. Designed to develop leadership capacity among emerging conservationists working to address the most pressing conservation issues of our time, the awards are offered on an annual basis to teams that exhibit leadership potential in biodiversity conservation and have the potential to develop key skills through small-scale practical conservation projects. Recipients become eligible for continued support through the CLP as they develop in their careers.
Approximately twenty Future Conservationist Awards of up to $12,500 each will be made this year.
Applicants working across Africa, Asia, Eastern and Southeastern Europe, the Middle East, the Pacific, Latin America, and the Caribbean are eligible to apply. Countries that are not eligible include those designated as "high-income" by the World Bank, with the exception of island nations in the Pacific and Caribbean and some countries in the Middle East.
Complete program guidelines and an eligibility quiz are available at the program Web site.
