Regence Foundation Announces New Award for Innovation and Leadership in Palliative Care
Regence Foundation Announces New Award for Innovation and Leadership in Palliative Care
The Regence Foundation, the corporate foundation of health insurer Regence, has announced a new award to recognize leadership in palliative care, a specialized field of health care that relieves suffering and improves quality of life for patients with advanced illness.
The foundation created the Sojourns Award, which includes a $50,000 cash grant, to honor inspirational organizations and leaders in the field, promote their innovations, and stimulate public dialogue about the important role that palliative care plays in the healthcare system.
Individuals and nonprofit organizations located in Utah, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington are eligible to be nominated for the award. Four $50,000 award recipients will be selected — one in each eligible state. Sojourns Award recipients that are nonprofit organizations will receive the cash grant directly. Individuals must designate an eligible nonprofit to receive the grant.
The awards are part of the Regence Foundation's Sojourns program, which supports organizations working to advance quality palliative and end-of-life care. Through the program, the foundation also offers Sojourns Pathways Grants to nonprofit and public hospitals interested in establishing a palliative care program, seeking to implement a plan for a program, or seeking to expand an existing program through partnerships with other community organizations.
Visit the Regence Foundation Web site for complete Sojourns Award guidelines and further information on the Sojourns program.
