Arts Midwest Announces Guidelines for 2010-2011 Performing Arts Fund Grants
Arts Midwest Announces Guidelines for 2010-2011 Performing Arts Fund Grants
Arts Midwest's Performing Arts Fund supports the inter-state touring of professional performing artists specializing in the fine arts of dance, theater, music, youth and family entertainment, and other performing arts forms appropriate for communities throughout Arts Midwest's nine-state region. These engagements include public performances and in-depth educational activities that reach audiences which lack access to the performing arts. The program has announced guidelines for the 2010-11 season, supporting engagements taking place between July 1, 2010, and June 30, 2011.
Performing Arts Fund grants are applied for and made directly to presenting organizations (organizations that book artists to perform in their venues) in Arts Midwest's nine-state region of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. Applicants must have federal tax-exempt status, either as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization or a unit of state, local, or tribal government.
Engagements must feature a professional performing artist/ensemble from outside the applicant's state. Applicants can apply for artists/ensembles from anywhere else in the United States or the world. Engagements must include at least one performance that is open and promoted to the general public, at least one in-depth educational activity, and must reach an underserved audience.
Selected applications will receive 20 percent of the artist/ensemble's contracted fee (dependent on available funds). Program grants provide minimum support of $500 per application (contracted fee of at least $2,500) and maximum support of $5,000 per application. Applications must be accompanied by a Letter of Intent or fully executed contract between applicant and the artist/ensemble or its agent.
The review of applications will begin on March 24, 2010. Each state has an allocation of funds to be distributed. Applications for each state will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis by date received. Each state's allocation will be distributed until all funds are depleted.
