New York Foundation for the Arts Announces Informational Seminars for New York State Artists' Fellowships
New York Foundation for the Arts Announces Informational Seminars for New York State Artists' Fellowships
An annual program of the New York Foundation for the Arts, Artists' Fellowships provide $7,000 to individual artists living and working in the state of New York for unrestricted use.
Eight grants per year are awarded in sixteen artistic disciplines. The following categories will be reviewed during the 2009-10 cycle: architecture/environmental structures; choreography; fiction; music/sound; painting; photography; playwriting/screenwriting; and video. (Application deadlines vary by category; see the NYFA Web site for details.)
Peer review panels select approximately a hundred fellows each year, with the goal of buying recipients creative time to continue their work.
Each year NYFA offers free informational seminars across New York state to explain the fellowship application and review process. While the seminars are not mandatory, they offer valuable information and applicants are encouraged to attend.
This year NYFA also will be conducting four enhanced applications seminars in addition to the general informational seminars. The enhanced seminars will be held in Lake Placid, Ithaca, Buffalo, and Woodstock. Applicants are asked to RSVP for these enhanced seminars. Visit the NYFA Web site for the current list of available seminars and for updates and new locations.
The artists fellowships online application will be posted on the NYFA Web site in early September, and applications may be submitted after September 9, 2009.
