California Council for the Humanities Invites Entries for California Documentary Project
The California Documentary Project, a competitive grants program of the California Council for the Humanities in partnership with the Skirball Foundation, supports humanities-based film, radio, and new media projects that document the California experience and explore issues of significance to Californians. Projects must enhance an understanding of California and its cultures, peoples, and histories and be suitable for California and national audiences.
Applicants may apply for either a research and development grant or a production grant. Research and development grants provide up to $7,000 each for film and radio projects. Production grants provide up to $50,000 each for film and radio projects, and up to up to $20,000 for new media projects.
Projects must be sponsored by a not-for-profit organization or state or municipal government entity, preferably one in California.
Complete program information is available at the council's Web site.
