Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Accepting Applications for Fund for Creative Communities and Community Arts Fund
Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Accepting Applications for Fund for Creative Communities and Community Arts Fund
The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council is accepting applications for two funding programs supporting Manhattan-based art programs.
Funded by the New York State Council on the Arts, the Fund for Creative Communities supports small and midsized nonprofit organizations that provide high-quality local arts programs. Grants ranging from $750 to $5,000 are awarded through the fund to nonprofit organizations and artists applying through a fiscal sponsor for arts projects with a public component that will benefit Manhattan communities. Applications will be accepted from Manhattan-based nonprofit organizations such as arts organizations, social service agencies, senior centers, faith-based organizations, folk societies, and cultural centers. Individual artists residing in other boroughs may apply if their fiscal sponsor is Manhattan-based and their project takes place in Manhattan. Applications will be accepted for ongoing or new projects in any artistic discipline.
Funded by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, the Manhattan Community Arts Fund supports local arts organizations and artists that have little access to other government funding sources. The program awards grants ranging from $750 to $5,000 to Manhattan-based individual artists or nonprofit organizations such as arts organizations, social service agencies, senior centers, faith-based organizations, folk societies, and cultural centers. Applicant organizations must have operating budgets under $100,000 for two of the last three fiscal years. Individual artists must live in Manhattan. Unincorporated and collaborative groups must show a minimum of a three-year working relationship, and an artistic lead residing in Manhattan must apply on behalf of the group. Ongoing or new projects in any artistic discipline are eligible.
First-time applicants and returning applicants for either program who have not attended an information session in the past three years (prior to 2006) are required to attend such a session.
Visit the LMCC Web site for complete program guidelines and information session details.
