American Skin Association Announces 2010 Requests for Research Proposals
The American Skin Association, a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives and alleviating human suffering caused by the full spectrum of skin disorders and cancer through research, education, and prevention, is seeking proposals for its 2010 grant cycle.
Grant applications for both targeted and general skin disease research are invited through the following RFPs:
1) Abby S. and Howard P. Milstein Innovation Award for Melanoma/Non-Melanoma Skin Cancer Research — One grant of $750,000 over three years to support original research for melanoma/non-melanoma skin cancer by established leaders in the fields of cutaneous oncology and dermatology. (Deadline: July 1, 2009)
2) Research Scholar Award in Psoriasis/Inflammatory Skin Diseases — One grant of $150,000 over two years to support basic science and clinical research for psoriasis and inflammatory diseases by gifted young scientists in the early phases of their careers. (Deadline: October 5, 2009)
3) Research Scholar Award — Up to four one-year grants of $60,000 each (renewable for one year) to support basic science and clinical research by gifted young scientists in the early phases of their careers. (Deadline: October 5, 2009)
4) Research Scholar Award in Melanoma/Non-Melanoma Skin Cancer — One one-year grant of $60,000 (renewable for one year) to support basic science and clinical research for melanoma/non-melanoma skin cancer by gifted young scientists in the early phases of their careers. (Deadline: October 5, 2009)
5) Research Grants in Childhood Skin Diseases/Disfigurement, Psoriasis/Inflammatory Skin Diseases, Skin Cancer, Melanoma, and Vitiligo/Pigment Cell Disorders — Up to six one-year grants of $15,000 each (renewable for one year) for new and ongoing clinical investigations. (Deadline: October 5, 2009)
6) Quality of Life/Health Services/Outcomes Study Grants — Up to two one-year grants of $15,000 each (renewable for one year) for research in areas related to dermatology. (Deadline: October 5, 2009)
7) Medical Student Grants Targeting Melanoma and Skin Cancer — Up to five one-year grants of $7,000 each (renewable for one year) to encourage medical students to direct their interest into the area of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer. (Deadline: October 5, 2009)
