LA84 Foundation Offers Support for Los Angeles-Area Sports Programs
The LA84 Foundation awards grants for sports programs in Southern California's eight counties (Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, Santa Barbara, and Ventura). The foundation serves all of Southern California but gives special emphasis to Los Angeles, the city that hosted the 1984 Olympic Games.
The LA84 Foundation will consider funding requests from any Southern California organization devoted to amateur sports. Foundation funds are primarily intended for the development of youth sports below the elite level. The foundation seeks to serve the entire community but gives special attention to groups and communities underserved by traditional sports programs, including girls, ethnic minorities, and the physically challenged and developmentally disabled.
The foundation accepts proposals at any time on a first-come, first-served basis. However, for time-sensitive programs beginning between October and December 2008, the grant proposal should be received no later than July 11, 2008; for programs beginning between January and May 2009, the grant proposal should be received no later than October 10, 2008.
