Pacific Forest and Watershed Lands Stewardship Council Seeks Proposals for California Youth Investment Programs
The Pacific Forest and Watershed Lands Stewardship Council has released its Youth Investment Programs 2008 Grant Requests for Proposals.
In 2008, as part of its Youth Investment Program, the Stewardship Council will grant between a total of $2 million and $2.5 million in funding to improve the lives of underserved youth in northern and central California by providing greater access to outdoor experiences from urban parks in the city to watersheds in the wilderness. In 2008, there are four different grant rounds three rounds focused on outdoor and environmental education programs and one on building parks and playgrounds:
Catalyst Fund: Nurturing Small Grassroots Organizations Provides program funding grants of up to $15,000 each (Round 1 Deadline: February 15, 2008; Round 2 Deadline: August 8, 2008).
Impact Fund: Sparking Innovation and Lowering Barriers Provides program funding grants of from $15,000 to $50,000 each (Round 1 Deadline: February 15, 2008; Round 2 Deadline: August 8, 2008).
Collaboration Fund: Developing Field-wide Initiatives Through Partnerships Provides program funding grants of from $50,000 to $150,000 each (Letters of Inquiry Deadline: March 14, 2008).
Infrastructure Fund: Building Parks and Playgrounds Provides infrastructure funding grants of up to $250,000 each (Letters of Inquiry Deadline: March 14, 2008).
Applicants to the Youth Investment Program funding must meet the following minimum requirements: be a federally and California exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and/or classified as a public charity or a public agency, school district, or a federally recognized tribe, or a fiscally sponsored project of an exempt organization; serve youth within the geographic scope of the Stewardship Council in Northern and Central California; serve youth who are between the ages of 13 to 18 (non-school-based projects), or between 7th and 12th grades (school-based projects); and have been in existence for at least one full calendar year (with the exception of the Catalyst Fund for grassroots organizations).
