NEA Foundation for the Improvement of Education Announces Library Books Awards Program
NEA Foundation for the Improvement of Education Announces Library Books Awards Program
Through the 2008 NEA Books Across America Library Books Awards, the NEA Foundation for the Improvement of Education will make grant awards to public schools serving economically disadvantaged students to purchase books for school libraries.
Only one eligible applicant per school may submit an application. The applicant must be a practicing pre-K-12 school librarian, teacher, or education support professional in a U.S. public school. In addition, at least 70 percent of the students in the applicant’s school must be eligible for the free or reduced-price lunch program.
The foundation will make approximately fifty awards of $1,000 each. Funds may be used only to purchase books and other reading materials for public school libraries.
Complete program information is available at the NEA Foundation Web site.
