Connect US Announces Rapid Response Grant Program for Global Engagement Projects
Connect US Announces Rapid Response Grant Program for Global Engagement Projects
Through a program of grantmaking and operations designed to foster stronger collaboration among nongovernmental organizations active on foreign policy issues, Connect US, a Washington, D.C.-based foundation/NGO initiative supported by a donors’ collaborative seeks to advance a vision for responsible U.S. global engagement in an increasingly interdependent world.
The Connect US Fund's Rapid Response Grant Program is aimed at enabling organizations to act on unique, time-sensitive, and unforeseen opportunities for policy change. The Rapid Response Program will complement the Connect US Global Security and Cooperation Initiative, a two-year program of grantmaking and operations designed to promote a broad vision of responsible U.S. global engagement among the 2008 presidential candidates and the public. The Global Security and Cooperation Initiative is focused, in particular, on climate change and energy policy, nuclear proliferation, human rights, and international trade and development.
Rapid Response Grant Program proposals are expected to address a timely need or opportunity consistent with the Connect US vision of responsible US global engagement, present opportunities for real policy change, and have clear policy objectives and short-term strategies for meeting them.
The program could support, for example, the hiring of a campaign or communications coordinator, key personnel for a time-limited purpose, or other outreach or organizing costs. These campaigns or projects must be 501(c)(3) activities.
The program anticipates making approximately fifteen to thirty grants of $5,000 to $25,000 each, totaling no more than $375,000, over the course of a year.
The Rapid Response Fund will accept proposals on a rolling basis starting September 16, 2007. Visit the Connect US Fund Web site for complete program information.
