Individuals Working to Advance Human Well-Being Invited to Apply for Rolex Awards for Enterprise
The Rolex Awards for Enterprise are designed to support exceptional individuals who initiate outstanding ventures that advance human knowledge and well-being.
The awards support initiatives in the following areas: Science and Medicine contributing to human health and welfare; Technology and Innovation finding new ways to improve life; Exploration and Discovery expanding our knowledge of the world; the Environment protecting or improving our natural and physical surroundings; and Cultural Heritage conserving or contributing to our common cultural/artistic heritage.
Unlike other programs that reward past achievements, the Rolex Awards assist individuals embarking on new ventures or completing ongoing projects. Applicants must submit projects that are envisaged for the future or that have been completed in part. Undertakings or projects that will be completed when the awards are announced cannot be considered.
The five award recipients will receive $100,000 each and a Rolex chronometer as well as international publicity. Up to five other runners-up whose projects are judged to be particularly promising will each also receive a financial award, a Rolex chronometer, and publicity.
Anyone of any age, nationality, or background can apply for a Rolex Award for Enterprise. Applications may be submitted by individuals only. If a project represents the efforts of several individuals, one person must represent the group and sign the application form.
Award deadlines are as follows: May 31, 2007, for Asia, the Pacific, and North, Central, and South America; and September 30, 2007, for Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
Visit the program's Web site for complete application information.
