Applications Invited for Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellowship Program for Medical Students

Applications Invited for Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellowship Program for Medical Students

The Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellowship program, established in 2000 by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, is designed to encourage medical students to pursue careers in clinical research by giving exceptional students the opportunity to take a year to experience clinical research first hand.

The CRF program is available at the following ten medical schools: Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons; Harvard Medical School; Mount Sinai School of Medicine; University of California, San Francisco, School of Medicine; University of Iowa, Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine; University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, School of Medicine; University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine; University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas; Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis; and Yale University School of Medicine.

Each participating medical school provides medical students with a one-year fellowship experience in clinical research that includes both didactic and research components; solicits applications from students at any U.S. medical school; matches students to outstanding clinical research mentors; and offers fellowships to at least five students per year.

A minimum of fifty fellowships will be awarded across the ten participating CRF schools for the 2007-08 fellowship year.

Fellows receive a $27,000 stipend (for the 2007-08 fellowship year); health insurance; financial support to attend the annual CRF meeting and other research meetings; and supplementary research and training funds.

Students matriculated at any U.S. medical school who are in good academic standing and have completed two or more years of medical school prior to the start of the fellowship are eligible to apply to any of the participating schools.

Visit the DDCF Web site for complete program information, an eligibility FAQ, and application procedures.
