Bush Foundation Announces Artist Fellows Program
Bush Foundation Announces Artist Fellows Program
An initiative of the Bush Foundation, the Bush Artist Fellows program
supports artists in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and
northwestern Wisconsin whose work reflects any of the region’s
diverse geographic, racial, cultural, or aesthetic communities.
Artists may be at any stage of their life’s work from early to
mature.
The artist program makes awards in eight categories which rotate
on a two-year cycle. For 2007, fellowships will be awarded in the
categories of: Literature (poetry, fiction, and creative non-
fiction); Music Composition; Scriptworks (for stage and screen);
and Film/Video.
The program provides grants of $48,000 to each artist. In 2007,
the program will support up to 15 artists. Applicants propose a
fellowship plan that lasts between 12 and 24 continuous months.
Fellows are expected to devote extended periods of focused time
to the work supported by the fellowship, which they may define
based on their individual circumstances.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of
Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, or one of the following 26
counties of northwestern Wisconsin (Ashland, Barron, Bayfield,
Buffalo, Burnett, Chippewa, Douglas, Dunn, Eau Claire, Florence,
Forest, Iron, La Crosse, Lincoln, Oneida, Pepin, Pierce, Polk,
Price, Rusk, St. Croix, Sawyer, Taylor, Trempealeau, Vilas, and
Washburn) and must have lived in one of these states for at least
12 of the 36 months preceding the application deadline.
Applicants must be 25 years or older at the time of the
application deadline.
Students enrolled full- or part-time in a degree-granting program
after July 1, 2007 are not eligible to apply.
Application deadlines are as follows: Literature October 21,
2006; Film/Video and Scriptworks October 28, 2006; and Music
Composition November 3, 2006.
Information meetings will be held in Fall 2006 to review
