Bread and Roses Community Fund Offers Support for Social Change Programs in Delaware Valley
Bread and Roses Community Fund Offers Support for Social Change Programs in Delaware Valley
The Bread and Roses Community Fund, a partnership of donors
and activists committed to supporting social change in the
Delaware Valley, is accepting applications for its Racial
and Economic Justice Fund and its Future Fund.
The Racial and Economic Justice Fund supports groups using
community organizing to promote racial and economic justice
at the local, state, national, and international levels.
Working toward racial and economic justice, understanding
of the problem, and a strategy for addressing it must be
central to the vision of groups applying to the fund. Grants
will range from $5,000 to $10,000, with the possibility of
a limited number of larger grants being awarded each year.
(2007 deadline to be announced.)
The Future Fund supports organizations that are working on
emerging issues or developing new approaches to social
justice activism. These groups may employ one or more
effective strategies, such as cultural work, media advocacy,
or political education. Grants will range from $2,000 to
$6,000. (2007 deadline to be announced.)
Applicant organizations must be located in the Delaware
Valley, which includes five Pennsylvania counties
(Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery)
and Camden County, New Jersey. Organizations with total
operating budgets of less than $150,000 are eligible to
apply. (Those with total budgets of more than $150,000 may
apply under certain conditions.) Applicant organizations
must be tax-exempt, have a fiscal sponsor with tax-exempt
status, or be awaiting a decision by the IRS on their
501(c)(3) application.
Priority is given to organizations that are actively
working against racism.
See the Bread and Roses Web site for complete program
information, eligibility details, and application procedures.
