On the Web - My Life Check

Mission:
To help individuals build healthier lives free of cardiovascular disease and stroke.

Background:
The American Health Association launched My Life Check in January 2010 in conjunction with its publication of a scientific statement on seven health factors and lifestyle behaviors that can affect optimal cardiovascular health. The online resource, which is part of AHA's efforts to improve the heart health of all Americans while reducing deaths from cardiovascular diseases and stroke by 2020, is designed to educate the public on how to improve their health and live better.

Outstanding Web Features:
My Life Check invites site visitors to take a short assessment and find out where they stand with the Simple 7 goals for ideal heart health. Once the assessment is completed, visitors receive saveable or printable documents with specific action steps they can take to improve their cardiovascular health. They can also choose to send a link and description of the tool to friends or family. In addition, the site features success stories, a Google mashup showing actions people around the country have taken to improve their heart health, and video messages from AHA CEO Nancy Brown and president Clyde Yancy.
