Center for Housing Policy

Mission:
To broaden understanding of the nation's housing challenges and examine the impact of policies and programs developed to address these needs.

Background:
As the research arm of the National Housing Conference, the Center for Housing Policy works to expand awareness of the nation's housing needs; identify and develop policy solutions at the national, state, and local levels that increase the availability of affordable homes; and increase understanding of the role housing plays in advancing social outcomes. In support of those goals, the center has launched HousingPolicy.org, an online guide to housing policy, and Foreclosure-Response.org, which contains information on foreclosure prevention and neighborhood stabilization. The sites are funded in part by the Open Society Institute, Fannie Mae, Countrywide Financial, and the Annie E. Casey, John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur, and Ford foundations.

Outstanding Web Features:
The CHP site features a searchable gallery of affordable homes and an affordable housing forum for housing practitioners, policy makers, while, Foreclosure-Response.org includes maps and data on foreclosure needs around the country. Both HousingPolicy.org and Foreclosure-Response.org also feature interactive FAQ pages.
