On the Web - myGO Healthy Challenge
To stem the nationwide increase in childhood obesity by 2010 and help all children live longer and healthier lives.
The myGO Healthy Challenge Web site is a project of the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, a partnership between the American Heart Association and the William J. Clinton Foundation that works to help the nearly twenty-five million children in the United States who are overweight or obese. The Web site is one effort by the alliance to help ensure that future generations of children won't struggle with illnesses associated with poor food choices and lack of physical activity.
Outstanding Web Features:
Visitors to the site can register to play a game that helps assess how well their children eat and engage in physical activity while providing tips for how to increase their exercise, create nutritious snacks, and record their healthy activities. The site also offers an activities generator that includes indoor and outdoor ideas for children and families; a list of fifty healthy tips for overweight children; and several downloadable resources.
